“Tuition (Remix)” blends dreamy vibes with Lil Baby’s gritty presence.
Don Toliver is just as hot as anyone in the melodic hip-hop lane. With OCTANE quietly becoming one of the year’s biggest-selling hip-hop albums, it’s clear his formula of vibe-heavy, replayable music is working. Now, he’s extending that run by recruiting Lil Baby for the “Tuition (Remix).”
“Tuition (Remix)” leans fully into late-night energy. The production carries a hypnotic, almost drowsy feel, the kind that wraps around you like dim lights in a near-empty room. Don Toliver floats across it effortlessly, delivering a hazy, melodic performance that feels more like a mood than a traditional verse.
Lil Baby enters with a different kind of energy. His contribution is passionate as hell, filled with bars about him putting his chick through the mattress and the lengths he’s willing to go to make her happy. His delivery blends melody with urgency, at times sounding like he’s right on the edge emotionally, which adds intensity to the track. That said, his presence slightly shifts the song’s balance. While he brings a refreshing contrast, he doesn’t fully melt into the atmosphere Don creates.
Still, “Tuition (Remix)” works. It’s moody, deep, and built for those late hours when everything feels a little heavier.
