Skrilla & NBA YoungBoy Bring Chaos and Drama on “Free 40”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Is this not the most outlandish s**t you’ve ever heard?

Skrilla has been building momentum at a rapid pace, carving out a lane with his unpredictable style and cold, hard-hitting production choices. With his upcoming project Z on the horizon, he continues to apply pressure, this time linking up with NBA YoungBoy on “Free 40.”

Right away, the production grabs you. It’s one of the most dramatic trap beats you’ll hear, blending heavy bass with eerie violin arrangements that give the track a cinematic, almost haunting feel.

Lyrically, the track doesn’t aim to be deep. Skrilla and YoungBoy lean into reckless, unfiltered content, touching on codeine use, excessive luxury, and violent tendencies. This shouldn’t surprise you, though, right?

Skrilla’s delivery is especially unique. His shaky flow rides the beat, but just barely, like he’s catching it at the last possible second. NBA YoungBoy, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach. He ignores the rhythm altogether, aggressively throwing his bars around with a raw, almost unhinged intensity.

Why do I feel like this track just whooped my ears’ ass?
