“Identity Crisis” balances lyrical skill with emotional transparency.
Skint has delivered what feels like an authentic and introspective hip-hop statement with Identity Crisis. Rather than chasing trends or relying on empty flexes, the project is rooted in self-exploration, honesty, and growth. It documents a journey through dark places toward eventual hope, giving the album emotional weight from start to finish.
From a production standpoint, Identity Crisis thrives on variety. The album moves through urgent, hard-hitting moments, dramatic stretches, and true old-school hip-hop vibes without ever feeling scattered. There are punchy beats, layered instrumentals, cinematic textures, and several tracks that feel tailor-made for anyone who still values pure MC energy. To me, it is one of the strongest aspects of the project.
Skint approaches each record with a straightforward but effective rap style. When intensity is needed, he raises the temperature with aggression and passion. In more reflective moments, he sounds calmer and more grounded, showing a softer side that adds depth to the album. Mechanically, his flow remains steady throughout, and he sprinkles in punchlines at the right moments to remind listeners he values skill just as much as substance.
Lyrically, Identity Crisis focuses on resilience, overcoming trials and tribulations, and understanding who Skint once was compared to who he is becoming. He also offers thoughtful commentary on religion, drug abuse, mental health, and the terrors of the world. That honesty gives the album a relatable human core.
Standout tracks include “Life of a Clown,” “Conflict of Interest,” “Going Through It,” and “Dear Joy.” Each adds another chapter to the emotional arc of the project.
All in all, Identity Crisis is a vulnerable, well-crafted hip-hop album that values bars, storytelling, and real-life perspective.
