Does Michael Jackson have haters? If so, they’re punching walls again after this news.
Michael Jackson is reminding the world that true classics do not age. According to chart data, his legendary singles “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” have both reached brand-new peaks on the global Spotify chart, 43 years after their original release.
“Billie Jean” climbed to #24 with 3.046 million streams, while “Beat It” rose to #55 with 2.321 million streams. That kind of movement, four decades later, is absurd, but then again, we are talking about Michael freaking Jackson here.
A big reason for the jump is the growing buzz around the upcoming MICHAEL biopic. The film stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, in the lead role, with Nia Long and Miles Teller also attached. Early reactions and clips have sparked social media into full moonwalk mode, with users posting dance recreations, impressions, and tributes.
Still, the movie only opened the door. The music is what keeps people inside. “Billie Jean” still sounds sharp as hell. “Beat It” still punches through speakers like it was released yesterday. Then there is Thriller, the best album of all time!
Forty-three years later, the King of Pop is still charting like he never left.
