Chris Brown keeps winning with these marathon albums.
Chris Brown officially debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with his latest album, BROWN, moving 65,000 first-week units. The total was powered largely by streaming activity, with the project generating 60.31 million on-demand streams alongside 5,000 pure album sales.
The 27-track release features appearances from NBA YoungBoy, Bryson Tiller, Sexyy Red, and Leon Thomas. Early attention centered around songs like “It Depends” and “Fallen,” while deeper cuts such as “Something In The Water” and “For The Moment” also gained momentum online following the album’s release.
Reception to BROWN has varied depending on the audience. While many of his fans have embraced the project’s R&B-heavy direction, some critics have been less enthusiastic, with outlets like Pitchfork giving it a low rating of 1.4, citing its soulless sound. Despite that, the commercial performance shows Brown continues to maintain a strong streaming audience.
Compared to 11:11, which opened with roughly 45,000 first-week units, BROWN represents a noticeable commercial increase. Even with an extensive tracklist and mixed critical feedback, the album still managed to secure a top-10 debut and strong streaming numbers in its opening week.
