Okay, so this one really hurt.
Julia Wolf leans fully into vulnerability on “Deep End,” and the result is quietly heartbreaking. The track is stripped back almost completely, built on soft acoustic production that keeps all attention on her voice and the emotion behind it.
Julia sounds extremely raw throughout. There is a fragility in her delivery that makes everything feel deeply personal, like thoughts being voiced that were never meant to be shared. The pacing is slow, emotional, and unsettling in a way that gradually builds rather than announces itself.
Lyrically, the song focuses on wanting to matter to someone who feels emotionally out of reach. She sings about craving attention, validation, and reassurance from someone she clearly cares about, while constantly feeling like she is not enough. The line about “doing handstands in the deep end of your mind” stands out as a powerful metaphor for emotional effort that goes unnoticed.
There is also a darker layer beneath the softness. Julia compares herself to someone turning blue underwater, holding on too long while slowly being forgotten. It captures emotional imbalance with clarity, showing the disconnect between someone giving everything and someone barely noticing.
“Deep End” is delicate, painful, and beautifully constructed, leaving a lasting emotional weight.
