Drake leads another stacked week on Spotify’s global charts.
5. BTS
As incredible as Drake’s numbers have been, it’s still wild that BTS’s ARRIGANG remains the highest first-week-selling album in the United States. If you need proof of just how dominant BTS was with that release, all 14 tracks on the album have surpassed 100 million streams. That’s an absolutely ridiculous accomplishment.
4. Taylor Swift
Just like Bad Bunny, I expect Taylor Swift to always be somewhere around this top-five list. Even though she hasn’t done much musically this year, fans are clearly still riding the wave of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. In particular, “The Fate of Ophelia” continues to put up massive streaming numbers and remains one of the biggest songs in her catalog right now.
3. Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson’s catalog continues to get a major boost from the success of his biopic, MICHAEL.
It feels like listeners are running through his entire discography right now. Of course, the usual heavy hitters like “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” are doing their thing, but deeper cuts and older favorites such as “Chicago” and “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” are also seeing renewed attention.
Just wait until MICHAEL 2 comes out. If that happens, expect another massive surge in streams for the King of Pop.
2. Bad Bunny
Globally, Bad Bunny continues to run the show thanks to a catalog packed with incredibly replayable music. He’s still riding the momentum of his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which continues to generate huge streaming numbers months after its release. At the same time, older hits like “Tití Me Preguntó” are still pulling in listeners at an impressive rate.
The combination of a dominant new project and a deep catalog of fan favorites keeps him near the top of every streaming chart. Honestly, it wouldn’t be surprising if Bad Bunny remains a fixture on lists like this for the next 5 or 10 years.
1. Drake
Respectfully, Drake better be the most-streamed artist on Spotify this week. Coming off not one, not two, not three new albums (in my LeBron voice), including ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR, he’s been piling up streams at an absolutely ridiculous pace. Add in the fact that people are already calling “Janice STFU” a legitimate Song of the Summer contender, and it’s easy to see why his numbers are through the roof. At this point, it would be more surprising if Drake WASN’T sitting near the top of the streaming charts.
