5. LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii
What happened to Hawaii?
“LO QUE LE PASÓ EN HAWAii” is one of the softer songs on “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” offering us a deeper glimpse into Bad Bunny’s values as a Puerto Rican. He shares the story of Hawaii losing its rich culture to Americans centuries ago and expresses how he and his people will never let go of their flag or pride. Despite the heavy message, Bad Bunny manages to convey this powerful narrative while still delivering a track you can dance to, especially with the more upbeat moment towards the end. The sound is beautiful, with strong bass, moving away from the typical club vibe we’re used to hearing from Bad Bunny, and instead embracing a more authentic Latino cultural sound.
4. LA MuDANZA
Bad Bunny says his parents “did their big one” with him.
“LA MUDANZA” is an endearing track that begins with a heartfelt story about Bad Bunny’s father’s upbringing, his hard work, and how he met his mother. He expresses gratitude for his parents, even during times when discipline was involved. The song transitions into a traditional salsa sound that resonates with every Latino, especially those from the Caribbean, including myself. I absolutely love how Bad Bunny blends his unique style with such a different vibe, seamlessly incorporating his signature touch into this classic sound.
3. CAFé CON RON (4.5/5)
Rum and coffee? Bad Bunny’s recipe for a hit song.
This is such an interesting track with an unlikely collab. Bad Bunny teams up with Los Pleneros de la Cresta, a Puerto Rican band whose mission is to preserve the essence of traditional Puerto Rican music. While they successfully deliver that authentic sound, Bad Bunny adds his own spin, infusing “CAFé CON RON” with a modern touch and crisp production. I really enjoyed everything from the vocal harmonies to the beats and instruments. It’s a seamless blend of tradition and innovation!
2. VOY A LLeVARTE PA PR
How does a trip to Puerto Rico sound?
The beat in “VOY A LLeVARTE PA PR” is so good. The song will 1000% get you moving, no matter what mood you’re in. This is one of the more predominantly reggaeton tracks on the album. Bad Bunny tells a story about a girl he wants to take back home to Puerto Rico, but the focus is really on celebrating his culture, his love for his country, and reggaeton. The song isn’t a love ballad like “I’ll Take You to Puerto Rico” might suggest. Instead, he shares how he’s happily single, having fun, clubbing, and living life. That upbeat, club/party vibe is exactly what we expect from Bad Bunny.
1. NUEVAYoL
“NUEVAYoL” or “New York”— The state where PR and DR meet in America.
Track 1, “NUEVAYoL,” is my favorite on this album. Hats off to Benito. The song samples a Puerto Rican classic from the 1970s while incorporating Bad Bunny’s modern reggaeton/dembow influence. He blurs the lines between Dominican and Puerto Rican cultures (which are already often blurred through similarities in music, sports, etc.). The beat will make you move, dance, and vibe, while the lyrics explore his artistic versatility through different genres.

The Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny has firmly established himself in the Latin urban music scene. As a singer, rapper, and producer, he proudly represents the Latino community in modern music, boasting about 70 million monthly listeners on Spotify and a long list of radio hits. His newest album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (or, “I should’ve taken more photos”), offers a glimpse into just how proud he is of his heritage. Not only does Bad Bunny express his love for being Puerto Rican, but he also showcases it by preserving the essence of traditional Caribbean music through rich saxophones, guitars, and beats. This universal language of music transcends time and language barriers.
