YG, JID & Ab-Soul Deliver Honest Reflections on “INSECURE”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

YG is doubling down on introspection.

For decades, rappers have been expected to project confidence, strength, and dominance. Recently, though, more artists have become comfortable discussing their fears, anxieties, and emotional struggles. YG joins that conversation with “INSECURE,” a powerful collaboration featuring JID and Ab-Soul.

The track continues the rollout for THE GENTLEMEN’S CLUB, and if it’s any indication, YG’s upcoming album could be one of his most introspective efforts yet.

From the start, the production establishes a tense, emotional atmosphere. The instrumental feels cinematic and dark, providing the perfect foundation for the subject matter. YG uses the opportunity to speak openly about insecurity and internal conflict, delivering his words with an urgency that’s impossible to ignore.

JID enters with his trademark smoothness, balancing technical skill with meaningful reflections on growth and resilience. Ab-Soul wraps up the song with an unconventional verse that explores childhood struggles and the reality that external success doesn’t automatically heal emotional wounds.

“INSECURE” isn’t trying to dominate clubs or playlists. Instead, it’s trying to start a conversation. In that regard, it succeeds remarkably well.
