Right now, Olivia Rodrigo has the keys to Spotify.
The numbers surrounding Olivia Rodrigo’s new album are getting more ridiculous by the hour.
you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love earned 81.6 million streams in its first day on Spotify, making it the biggest debut by a female artist in 2026.
The achievement places Rodrigo in extremely exclusive company, as she joins Taylor Swift as one of the only female artists ever to debut an album with more than 80 million streams on the platform.
Even more impressive, all three of Olivia’s studio albums have now debuted with at least 60 million Spotify streams, making her the only artist to accomplish that feat.
Olivia’s new single, “stupid song,” debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global chart with more than 10 million streams, becoming another major victory from the project. The accomplishment also makes Olivia the first artist to score three No. 1 songs on Spotify’s Global chart in 2026, joining previous chart-toppers “drop dead” and “the cure.”
If that wasn’t enough, every single track from you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love landed inside Spotify’s Global Top 20. Meanwhile, Rodrigo occupied 13 of the Top 14 spots on the U.S. Spotify chart, with songs like “honeybee,” “maggots for brains,” “u + me = <3,” and “what’s wrong with me” all posting huge numbers.
A lot of artists can deliver a hit. Very few can make listeners care about an entire album. That’s exactly what Olivia Rodrigo has done, and it’s why you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love feels less like a successful release and more like a full-blown cultural moment.
