A raw and relatable alt-pop gem that reflects on the chaotic side of love.
New Zealand-born, San Diego-based artist Estella Dawn is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose genre-defying sound blends pop, soul, hip-hop, and rock. Speaking about her artistry, she says, “My work is rooted in storytelling, capturing moments, contradictions, and the things people don’t always say out loud.” Her latest release is the four-track EP Can You Believe, with the title track arriving alongside an official lyric video.
Estella describes “Can You Believe” as “a raw, self-aware alt-pop song about wanting someone so badly it starts to rearrange your sense of self. Playful, wounded, messy, and deeply human, the track moves through late-night longing, self-deprecating humor, unanswered texts, black coffee, California streets, and the uncomfortable honesty of feeling completely undone by someone.”
Built around bright acoustic guitar melodies and ear-pleasing beats, “Can You Believe” delivers a warm, infectious backdrop that perfectly complements its emotionally driven story. Lyrics like, “I need your smile to lift me up / I’m a tough little b**** until I’m not / Truth is I don’t ever feel like I’m enough,” capture the vulnerability and emotional chaos that can come with unexpectedly falling for someone.
Fueled by emotionally charged, unfiltered storytelling, engaging visuals, and Estella Dawn’s signature powerhouse vocals, “Can You Believe” emerges as a raw, relatable alt-pop gem that embraces the messy realities of love. It’s the kind of song that’s easy to turn up and even easier to connect with.
