Tyga is entering a completely different lane with his new alter ego, $TARFACE. His latest single, “Gave U Racks,” trades modern trap production for shimmering synth-pop, making it clear that he’s fully embracing the colorful sounds of the 1980s.
Everything about the song feels intentionally nostalgic. The bright synthesizers, polished melodies, upbeat tempo, and larger-than-life production all capture the spirit of classic ’80s pop. Tyga adjusts his approach accordingly, leaning into melodic vocals and relaxed confidence rather than trying to have the beat in a headlock.
What makes the record work is its commitment. Instead of casually sprinkling retro influences into a contemporary song, “Gave U Racks” fully commits to its identity from beginning to end. That confidence gives the single a personality that’s difficult to ignore and leaves plenty of room for the $TARFACE concept to continue evolving.
I know y’all are probably going to think this track is stupid, but I actually think it’s pretty damn catchy and well-made. Keep doing your thing, $TARFACE.
