mgk and Yuki Chiba blend explosive production, bilingual verses, and nonstop energy throughout “JJK.”

Two things can absolutely be true: I still think mgk makes his best music when he’s leaning into alternative rock, but I also believe he’s a legitimately good rapper whenever he decides to tap back into that side of himself. That’s exactly what he does on his latest single, “JJK,” alongside Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba.

The song thrives off a massive, hard-hitting instrumental that keeps building until it feels like it’s about to explode. mgk attacks the beat with elusive flows, throwing out confident bars that remind listeners he’s still a rap devil that will f**k you up. He definitely adds the rebelliousness to the track.

Yuki Chiba brings a completely different flavor. Rapping entirely in Japanese, he slides across the beat with a smoother approach that creates a cool contrast to mgk’s raw energy. Based on the production, I think his style matches the track a little more than mgk’s.
