What exactly did the AI help with?

Tyga has officially confirmed what many people were wondering about his new $TARFACE album: AI was involved in the creative process.

During a recent conversation, Tyga explained that they “definitely used AI as a tool” while making the project. He also acknowledged that some people would probably have an issue with that, but compared the technology to the introduction of Auto-Tune. In his eyes, innovation always gets criticized at first, but real artists eventually figure out how to use it.

The interesting thing about this situation is that Tyga’s $TARFACE concept already came out of nowhere. After years of delivering West Coast-inspired club music, he shifted into a completely different lane with ’80s-inspired production and a lot more singing. That alone made the project stand out, but knowing AI played a role adds another layer of curiosity.

The biggest question is what exactly AI helped create. Was it the vocals, the effects, the synths, or something else entirely? Because while the ideas behind the project are fascinating, some of the singing performances were as questionable as Chipotle’s jalapeño peppers. Maybe AI played his motivational coach.

If anything, this project did more damage to AI than it helped its case.
