What did I just listen to?
One thing I like about what Young Thug is doing right now is that he’s building a nice young squad around him to help keep him on top of the game. Last night, he linked up with up-and-comers 1300SAINT and TEZZUS for “Consummate,” and the result is definitely a wild one.
“Consumate” is driven by this dark, borderline-divine trap beat that sounds like something you’d hear at a church that praises lean abusers. Over it, 1300SAINT and TEZZUS bounce off the walls, spitting with absolutely unchained styles while delivering lyrics about living life to the fullest, rebellion, and smashing wh*res. They bring a chaotic energy that scares the production out of its pants.
As for Young Thug, he provides some slight normalcy, hitting us with a verse where he switches his flow a few times, strangely says “Come f**k me” over and over again, and does some solid singing.
Overall, I think the beat is fire, the chorus is highly intoxicating, and Thugger’s verse is cool. Everything else might be a little too wacky for me, but that doesn’t mean the track isn’t worth checking out.
