Alex Warren’s “WILDCHILD” Debuts at No. 2 With 75,000 Units

The pop star’s experimental new album significantly outperforms his debut’s opening numbers and becomes his highest-charting project.

Alex Warren has officially achieved the biggest Billboard 200 debut of his career. His new album, WILDCHILD, enters the chart at No. 2 with 75,000 equivalent album units, landing at the lower end of its initial 75,000–80,000-unit projection.

The final total includes an impressive 55,000 pure album sales, while 20 million official on-demand streams helped account for the remaining units. With its No. 2 entrance, WILDCHILD is now Warren’s highest-charting album in the United States. (Billboard)

The 13-track project features songs such as “FEVER DREAM” and “FINE PLACE TO BE,” with Warren handling the entire album solo dolo. Musically, he leans further into experimental sounds, giving himself room to explore instead of simply attempting to recreate his previous formula.

The numbers become even more impressive when compared to his debut album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid. That project opened with roughly 50,000 equivalent album units and debuted at No. 5. It eventually developed remarkable staying power, spending 13 non-consecutive weeks inside the Top 10.

Of course, You’ll Be Alright, Kid had “Ordinary,” the massive hit that transformed Warren into a legitimate pop star. I wouldn’t necessarily expect WILDCHILD to produce another song of that magnitude because lightning rarely strikes twice.

Still, debuting at No. 2 with 75,000 units—25,000 more than his debut—confirms that Warren has built an audience willing to show up immediately. Now, we get to see whether WILDCHILD can develop the same kind of legs.
