I’m honestly surprised “All of the Lights” took this long to reach one billion streams.

Ye’s “All of the Lights” has officially surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, becoming his 16th song to reach the milestone.

“All of the Lights” appears on what many people consider Ye’s magnum opus, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Rihanna handles the unforgettable hook, but she is far from the only superstar featured on the track. Additional vocals were supplied by Kid Cudi, Fergie, Alicia Keys, Drake, Elton John, The-Dream, Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Ryan Leslie, Tony Williams, Elly Jackson of La Roux, Alvin Fields, and Ken Lewis. If you claim you clearly heard every single one of them, you’re a damn lie. Some of those voices are buried deeper than treasure.

The billion-stream achievement places “All of the Lights” in increasingly crowded company within Ye’s catalog. Other tracks to reach the mark include “Flashing Lights,” “Heartless,” “Stronger,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and “Runaway.”

Personally, I am surprised it took “All of the Lights” this long to reach one billion. Between Rihanna’s soaring hook, Fergie’s memorable breakdown, the dramatic horns, and Ye’s maximalist production, the track has always felt like one of his most recognizable releases.

Nearly 16 years after arriving, all of those lights are still shining brightly.
