I’m not going to lie: I love Fivio Foreign’s pivot toward gospel music. It feels unique, meaningful, and, most importantly, the two styles work together. Whether the newly baptized rapper sticks with this direction remains to be seen. His new single, “Soldier (Gospel Drill),” gives him every reason to keep going.
The song’s concept is interesting. Fivio raps about guiding a woman toward God, helping her become a believer by showing how faith can transform her life. That message lands over a heart-pounding drill beat strengthened by The Fire Choir, whose presence makes the entire record feel bigger, brighter, and cinematic.
Fivio approaches the track with his familiar slickness, but there is an extra layer of seriousness in his delivery. He flows relentlessly, sounds hungry again, and manages to keep the curse-word counter parked at zero without losing his edge.
All in all, I think “Soldier (Gospel Drill)” is one of Fivio’s strongest releases in a while, and I hope listeners give this experiment the attention it deserves.
