Lil Nas X is stepping into a new era.
From the jump, “World’s Greatest” is very different from a lot of the tracks we hear from Lil Nas X, but I actually really like this era for him. We have a pop beat with an alternative, punk backing that gives the track a little more grit while still keeping it incredibly catchy. It feels energetic, confident, and just different enough to make you want to hear where he takes this sound next.
Lyrically, Lil Nas X sings about struggling and rising above it, getting back up when nobody expects you to. He celebrates his victories, laughs at the haters, and keeps his head held high through it all. There’s something refreshing about hearing an artist acknowledge the obstacles without letting them become the focus of the story.
“World’s Greatest” is catchy, upbeat, and carrying a good message. It feels like a song for anyone who has ever been counted out and decided to prove everybody wrong instead of letting the doubt get to them. Lil Nas X sounds like he’s having fun with this new direction, and honestly, I’m here for it.
