Austin Powell Brings Grungy Indie Energy and Flirty Pop Vibes to “Retribution”

Rating: 4 out of 5.
Austin Powell

This hype love song is perfect for late-night drives under city lights.

“Retribution” is a single from Austin Powell’s album CHALANT. This track starts with some nasty bass and instantly goes into a very dirty indie sound. The grunginess is everything I could ever want in an indie track. Austin’s voice is very good, and the song just has this feel-good vibe all the way through. It’s an indie track through and through, but the vocals are giving major Pop & R&B undertones. It’s unique, flirty, and very fun.

Austin Powell sings about love and lust, bringing passion and high energy throughout the track as he sings about devotion and loving someone. There’s an intensity to his delivery that makes the song feel alive without taking away from its playful, carefree atmosphere. The combination of gritty instrumentation and smoother vocals gives “Retribution” a personality of its own, creating a sound that feels both edgy and undeniably catchy.

The song feels like driving under city lights, singing your favorite song with someone who just gets you. It has that kind of infectious energy that makes an ordinary night feel a little more exciting, like you’re living inside your own coming-of-age movie.

Overall, I really liked this song, and it made me want to listen to the rest of the album. If “Retribution” is any indication of what Austin Powell has to offer on CHALANT, I’m definitely interested in hearing more.
