The update arrives amid expectations that Post Malone will revisit elements of his earlier sound.
Post Malone sounds excited about his next album. Now we just need him to tell us when we can hear it.
The singer shared that the project is almost finished, opening his update with, “Almost done with this sumbitch!!” He apologized for how long it’s taking and told fans he can’t wait to share the music.
He also said he and his collaborators are proud of the results, promising “a shitload of songs coming!!!” That should give listeners plenty to look forward to, although the message doesn’t include a track count, title, or release date.
Another reason for the interest is the expectation that the album will feature more songs reminiscent of his OG sound. Fans of Post’s earlier blend of hip-hop, pop melodies, and heartfelt hooks will likely be watching that closely. It’s worth separating that expectation from his actual update, which focuses on the album’s progress rather than describing its sound.
Personally, I’m interested in hearing how he works those elements into his current sound. I love Post’s country music, but the guy making “Wow” and “Psycho” was my favorite version of him. Bringing that hip-hop feel together with his country and pop influences could give us something special.
Post also assured fans that next time, the wait won’t stretch to three years. We’ll hold him to that later. Right now, the important part is getting this album across the finish line.
Seasons greetings nerds… Almost done with this sumbitch!! I’m sorry it’s taking so goddamn long… I can’t wait to share this piece of music with y’all. We are so proud of what we’ve made… a shitload of songs coming!!! I promise next time it won’t take 3 years… I love you so… pic.twitter.com/ixWYxw8puy
