A vibrant, futuristic track about feeling lost while finding reasons to believe in where you’re headed.
Kojo Kay is so far outside the box musically that somebody should probably share its location with him. As he gears up for his self-produced debut mixtape, TONEBOW, he delivers its sixth single, “RIGHT HERE,” and I’m rocking with the direction.
The production is vibrant, sunny, punchy, glossy, and futuristic. It has that beautiful dream quality that makes waking up feel disrespectful. Over it, Kojo delivers an intoxicating melody through altered vocals that sound almost angelic. The layers give you plenty to explore without disturbing the peaceful atmosphere.
Lyrically, he keeps the main idea straightforward: “Tell me what you’re looking for, you can find it right here.” The song comforts people who feel lost, reminding them that where they are now doesn’t change where they hope to go. Its emotional foundation comes partly from the gospel music that filled his childhood home.
All in all, “RIGHT HERE” feels innovative and impactful without becoming difficult to connect with. I love the atmosphere, the melody sticks, and pressing play again feels like the obvious move.
