Vic Mensa has been engulfed in all kinds of beefs these last couple of months, distracting the people from his ability to make some pretty solid music. With the release of Hooligans, perhaps he can get people to pay attention to what he does best once again. (more…)

Kodak Black has never been the most articulate dude to listen to speak, nor has he been the biggest role model, but something about the s**t he says in his music always strikes a chord with me. Maybe because he’s unapologetic about who he is, and can care less about how we view his troublesome behavior. With that being said, on “Dying To Live,” I feel like the Pompano Beach native is comfortable in his own skin, which I think results in his best music to-date. (more…)

Let’s keep it real: Lil Keed sounds like Young Thug, Gunna and Ralo. He is the epitome of a mumble rapper — one that I’ve already heard 100 times this year, so I don’t expect to be moved by Keed Talk To ‘Em. However, there are some really good features on this joint (Lil Durk, Trippie Redd, 21 Savage and f**king Brandy), so I might listen to it for that reason.  (more…)

Don Q season is upon us… sort-of. I say ‘sort-of,’ because this EP is only six songs long. Nonetheless, hearing the Harlem rapper spit is always a treat, especially when he has guys like G-Herbo and Q-Money accompanying him. (more…)

Benny Blanco is a well known figure in the music industry, and for “Friends Keep Secrets,” he used some of his clout to link the biggest stars of r&b, rap and pop together for seven enjoyable tracks. (more…)

Earlier this week, Gucci Mane proclaimed himself ‘the best rapper alive.’ While I can’t stress to you how much I disagree with that sentiment, both his work ethic and knack for creating trap hits in his sleep may have you thinking differently. In “Evil Genius,” his whopping 98th project, he looks to continue making his case for the title, while at the same time getting the bando jumpin’. (more…)

I’m not going to lie, I am still shocked and appalled that XXXTENTACION is no longer with us. I felt at the time of his passing that he was just entering into his prime, figuring out a bunch of different sounds he could f**k around and be successful in. With “Skins,” we get a chance to see one of the last directions the Florida rapper aimed to go with his music, perhaps wowing us from deep up in the sky. (more…)

With an uncanny ability to spew out lyrics like a computer processor, dish out spectacular punchlines and turn beats inside out, listeners will get a chance to hear nothing but fire from Domo Genesis on “Facade Records.” The six track EP features Buddy, IDK, Chip Tha Ripper and Cozz. (more…)

You want to know why Iamsu! has an exclamation mark at the end of his name? It’s because he’s awesome! Actually, I don’t know how true that is, but what I do know is that he can spit bars with the best of them. In his latest project, “Blessed,” the Richmond, California rapper gives us something pretty dynamic, serving us with ten tracks full of introspective, heavy-hitting and soulful music. I think a lot of people will be surprised by what you hear. (more…)

I would’ve loved to hear a mixtape full of ‘Bang Bangs’ from Chief Keef on The Leek 6, but instead, you get music from the Chicago rapper that is experimental, heavy on the trap side, and quite frankly, plain ole bad… If you are a music fan, I encourage you to enjoy the journey that comes with listening to this tape, but keep in mind, this probably won’t be Illmatic 2.
