Obeeyay

RGM RATING (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

A smooth rap song with pop undertones and a feel-good attitude.

Obeeyay comes from a family of gospel legends. His parents were gospel artists; however, this did not stop Obeeyay from making music in a different genre. Born and raised in Utah, his parents believed in his dreams and helped him move to LA during his teen years so he could learn more about music. In LA, Obeeyay shadowed grammy-winning producers and songwriters who’ve worked with the likes of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B. Throughout his time there, he witnessed the Hollywood Hustle firsthand; this is a skill that he now applies to his own work. Obeeyay’s high-energy persona and dedication created a tight-knit fanbase for him, both online and in real life. The songs and EP that came as a result of his hard work are available on Spotify, YouTube, and his own website. The title track on Obeeyay’s first EP is “Winnin’.”

“Winnin,” featuring King Los, is all about understanding the value that comes with being around people who elevate your spirit. Mainly because of Obeeyay’s addictive voice, the song will get stuck in your head. It’s also dope how his verses are full of a rap-pop blend that is delivered in a smooth, even tone. In contrast, King Los’ part on the track is dynamic (He switches between a crooner and a tongue-twisting rapper) but cohesive with Obeeyay’s part. Overall, “Winnin'” made me excited to check out the rest of the EP. So, give Obeeyay’s “Winnin'” a shot today to indulge in some relaxing vibes.
