A pop-reggae song with tropical feelings and an Eastern influence.

Afrobeat meets Island music in up-and-coming artist Andreia’s work. She was raised by a single mom in France; however, her family is originally from Cabo Verde. Andreia’s mom sent her to their home country every summer so she could connect with her cultural heritage. Music was always a major part of her since she grew up listing to traditional Cape Verdean songs every Sunday. In 2021, Andreia was selected as a Radio France International Talent, and her first album has just released. She’s gaining attention on many platforms; these include Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud. Andreia’s latest release is the beautiful mix “São Vicente,” and its accompanying music video.

“São Vincente” means Saint Vincent, which is the name of an island in Cabo Verde. The song highlights Andreia’s multicultural background; especially her Cape Verdian heritage. The lyrics are in French, but the melody is heavily influenced by African rhythms. Similarly, in the music video, we can see colorful streets and people dancing with passion; it showcases the culture that Andreia came from, displaying that beauty for all to see. The two elements work side by side. The music shows off Andreia’s talent; however, the video gives us the other half that we can’t see just from listening. So, stream Andreia’s “São Vicente” today to travel to experience a different culture.
