DIE IN VVS

An R&B fusion that reflects on looking for love and loyalty.

Canada-based musical creative, ParisPlayedYou, is a Filipino-Canadian rap and R&B artist. He has been working hard to make waves in Vancouver’s rising hip-hop scene; however, he hopes to eventually blow up worldwide. PPY’s intention is to help redefine hip-hop by adding new elements to it. Some of his previous tracks are “Detroit Freestyle,” “City Girls,” and “No Hook Freestyle.” These songs, and others, are available on Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud. ParisPlayedYou’s latest drop is the R&B single, “DIE IN VVS.” The song also has an accompanying open-mic performance video.

“DIE IN VVS” provides a soothing soundscape for a rather upsetting message. Lyrics like “Sometimes s*** ain’t sweet / I been losing sleep / Who gon love me for me?” and “Who gon be there when I need somebody to go get me up? / Sometimes, I don’t know who to trust” get real about searching for love and loyalty. However, we’re also left with this sense of not knowing where to turn next, simply because things are bad and we don’t have someone there to console us. All in all, “DIE IN VVS” is a heartbreaking tune that will leave you longing for someone to be around when you need help.
