Mick Jenkins is my guy! When I first started writing reviews, he’s someone I focused a lot of my energy on. What I like is how Mick can kill you with bars, but at the same time, is poetic as hell. With that being said, I feel like he has been pretty quiet these past couple of years. Today, Mick returned to the music scene with “Smoke Break Dance” with JID.

“Smoke Break Dance” might be the chillest rap track I’ve heard this year. In it, Mick Jenkins and JID hit us with laidback raps over a jazzy beat by Stoic. As for lyrically, they talk about relying on weed to overcome some of their dark thoughts and shaky situations. The first time I listened to the song, I was a little bored by it. The second time I listened to it, it finally clicked with me.
