Kat Food
Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne just made the first cat anthem ever.
If Lil Wayne were to retire today, many believe he would easily secure a spot among the top three greatest rappers of all time. Fortunately, he hasn’t hung up his mic just yet. Despite not releasing an abundance of music in recent years, he has managed to stay in the limelight through appearances on sports shows and social media. Wayne made his return to the music scene today with a fresh single titled “Kat Food.”
While there have been countless dog-related anthems (with DMX being responsible for a good portion of them), the world hasn’t seen many cat anthems. However, Wayne seems determined to change that with “Kat Food.” The song is powered by an unconventional beat, more unorthodox than Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s shooting form. In this track, the Baton Rouge native serves up several cat metaphors and intricate flows, possibly pulled straight from a Trunkfit hat (remember that clothing brand?). Do I personally love this track? Not exactly. It falls in line with the extra quirky music he’s been creating lately, which hasn’t quite resonated with me. However, I can confidently say that he still possesses the ability to flow smoothly and deliver clever punchlines.
Could Lil Wayne have plans to drop a new album in the coming months? Stay tuned for updates on RGM to find out!
