Cam’ron Drops “IIWII SEASON 3 FREESTYLE”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Cam’ron’s third act has been very impressive. According to him, his first one involved drug dealing (which I know nothing about), his second one involved spitting bars with the best of them, and his third one involved talking sports with his good friend. In honor of the third season of “It Is What It Is,” Cam’ron decided to go back to his rap roots and drop a new single called “IIWII SEASON 3 FREESTYLE.”

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Cam’ron is one of my favorite rappers of all time. Even though he has a history of toying with unorthodox flows, which can be a bit much at times, I’ve always appreciated his swagger and beat selection. While “IIWII SEASON 3 FREESTYLE” features a beat sampled from D’Angelo’s track called “Cruisin’,” it still aligns with the kind of s**t Killa was spitting over back in the day. That said, in the song, he excels, using astute wordplay, slick punchlines, and super chill deliveries to detail everything from his wild club nights to his rough come-ups, name-dropping everyone from Mobb Deep to Wu-Tang. If you’re a fan of Cam’s music, you’ll find this track to be a treat (You have to be a fan of his, though. If you don’t f**k with him, you won’t f**k with the song).
