Trim Unleashes Chaotic Energy on “Get Hit”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is getting spooky.

I don’t believe in reincarnation, but dammit, the more I listen to Trim, the more I genuinely believe she is Nicki Minaj reincarnated. She has so many of the same Nicki twitches, vocal habits, and unpredictable tendencies that it’s honestly scary. After hearing her latest single, “Get Hit,” I almost spit my coffee out.

What’s cool about “Get Hit” is that the track flips Tyga and Young Thug’s “Hookah,” one of my favorite crazy-ass tracks of all time. Unfortunately, there’s nothing about Trim’s performance that directly references the original track. Instead, she raps about stepping on her competition, having choppers in her arsenal (I find it hilarious when women talk about having sticks), and even throws in some Barbie references. She also switches between a bunch of wacky deliveries, sounding like she’s possessed by several different demons while somehow riding the beat extremely well.

Aside from the Nicki Minaj doppelganger behavior, this track is really good.
