Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn & The Alchemist Connect For “Halal”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Conway The Machine may not share NBA YoungBoy’s style, but in terms of output, he’s perhaps second only to the Louisiana rapper. Over the past year or so, Conway has released multiple projects, singles, and featured on various tracks. One recent project is Hall & Nash 2 with Westside Gunn and The Alchemist. Just this Friday, a bonus track from that project was dropped.

“Halal” serves up a blend of gritty bars and borderline inspirational lyrics, which always hooks me in. In the track, Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn deliver verses that touch on the violence they’re willing to resort to, their challenging upbringings, and their eventual success. Conway exudes confidence and composure in his verse, while Westside Gunn channels the persona of a stickup kid.

As much as I appreciate the chemistry between Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn on this track, it’s The Alchemist’s beat that really captivates me. Despite its simplicity, the beat features haunting piano notes that resonate with me, creating an overall cold atmosphere that stirs something deep within my soul.

How come I don’t remember Hall & Nash 1? Was I living under a rock at the time?
