Since 2023, he’s been on a consistent run, dropping singles that not only catch attention but also spark remixes and conversations. With “(Fraudulent) Angel,” he continues that streak, showing a different layer of himself in the process.

At its core, the track is rooted in honesty. JOIE doesn’t try to paint himself as the good guy here. Instead, he openly admits fault, apologizing to his partner for misleading her and acknowledging that she deserves better. He even leans into his own selfishness, recognizing that he prioritized himself over the relationship.

What makes “(Fraudulent) Angel” stand out, though, is its contrast. Despite the heavy, almost heartbreaking subject matter, the production is surprisingly upbeat. The runway-like beat carries a light bounce that invites movement, while the hypnotic chorus and gentle vocals create a soothing, almost calming atmosphere.

All in all, JOIE GRAY turns a confession into something sonically enjoyable. I’m impressed.
