Larry June Keeps It Trill In “Dreams”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

This might be the most hyped-up I’ve heard Larry June.

Maturing is realizing that Larry June is a top-notch rapper. While he doesn’t rely on infectious melodies or flashy rap styles, it’s his big-boy lyrics that move the needle for me.

A few weeks ago, Larry June released a track that I really like: “Meet Me In Napa.” Today, he returned to the music scene with a new single called “Dreams.”

In “Dreams,” Larry June portrays himself as a clever playa who keeps a few guns for protection and drives flashy cars. He also emphasizes that he’s always focused on making money and is selective about spending it, only doing so on women who he feels are truly worth it.

“Dreams” stands out with its booming beat, reminiscent of the signature sounds from Cash Money Records’ prime era. Larry June’s simple flow on the hook contrasts with his verses, where he channels The Big Tymers’ flow, bringing a nostalgic yet fresh vibe. While these new styles June raps with could be described as “exciting,” his delivery remains notably monotone.

Larry June is cool as f**k.
