Lil Durk Admits He “Went Hollywood For A Year”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Hollywood is a very evil place.

Someone on Twitter/X said that Pandemic Lil Durk was a max contract player, and I 100% agree with that. I wouldn’t say the Chicago native has gone down since then; I would say his music isn’t hitting the same because our emotions aren’t the same now that the pandemic is over.

Lately, it seems like Lil Durk has been doing some soul-searching. His last album, Almost Healed, featured several tracks expressing his willingness to change his ways. Now, he’s back with another introspective single called “Went Hollywood For A Year.”

In “Went Hollywood For A Year,” we get a very introspective version of Lil Durk. In his verses, he talks about losing family members, wanting to free some of his locked-up homies, moving on from beef, and, strangely, sipping on some sizzurp. Despite boasting a very emotional beat, we don’t get Autotune Durk in the track; we get this raw version of the rapper who spits assertive bars in his verses and does some passionate singing on the hook.

This kind of sounds like an intro, right?
