I say this very respectfully: This song is awful.
Do you realize that LL COOL J has been rapping since 1985? To put that in perspective, that was the year Magic Johnson led the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA title against Larry Bird. While music hasn’t been his main focus these past few years—seems like he’s been more into acting—he’s returned to the scene with some new fire in his belly.
A couple of weeks ago, LL COOL J made his triumphant return with “SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL,” featuring Rick Ross, Fat Joe, and Q-Tip. Today, he dropped another single: “Passion.”
In “Passion,” LL COOL J reflects on his lavish lifestyle, his enduring competitive spirit, and his deep roots in the streets. While I appreciate LL’s energized delivery over the spellbinding Q-Tip beat, I find his flows a bit scattered, making it feel like he’s rambling at times. Nonetheless, it’s great to hear him still rapping at a somewhat high level.
I can be completely wrong here. Let me know how you feel about “Passion” in the comments section below.

Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.

This bullshit review sounds like you already had a review written, panning the song, and are pissed because you actually like it.
It’s absolutely wild that you think I would be hating on LL COOL J lol. I didn’t like the song. I’ve heard it 10 times already, never clicked with me. If you like it, that’s definitely cool.
