Benny The Butcher Comes Through In “Summer ’24”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Benny The Butcher leaves us with some heat before the summer ends.

Can I shock you real quick? OK, here I go: Did you know that Benny The Butcher’s Everybody Can’t Go album was released this year? Doesn’t it feel like that s**t dropped two years ago? I thought it was pretty solid, too. It features some outstanding beats. excellent rap verses and good guest appearances.

Today, Benny The Butcher decided to feed us once more with a new single called “Summer ’24.” In it, he proves that he’s still on fire.

“Summer ’24” feels like light work for Benny The Butcher. Over this dramatic boom-bap beat that I absolutely love, the Buffalo native updates folks on how he’s living, mentioning his beef with someone who shares his first name, turning into a killer once the weather heats up, and avoiding 50/50 splits. He also reflects on his drug-dealing past, which he practically does in every one of his songs. Though I would describe Benny’s tone throughout the track as laid-back, I appreciate how he knives through the beat with a simple yet steady flow and hurls out clever punchlines effortlessly.

Benny don’t be f**king around.
