Boldy James & Tee Grizzley Link Up For “Cecil Fielder”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Boldy James and Tee Grizzley are perfect for one another (Not like that, sickos).

I’ll be honest: I’ve heard Boldy James’s music before, but I’ve been hesitant to review his work because it seems like he drops something new almost weekly. I can barely keep up with his output. On the other hand, I’ve listened to nearly every track Tee Grizzley has released since 2018.

Recently, the two gritty rappers collaborated on a new single titled “Cecil Fielder.”

Talkin’ s**t won’t fly, can’t go for none, you gotta show me some’
Police chase me, that s**t hurt, I had to throw my only gun
No refunds once you walk out the trap, but that s**t jumpin’ back
Dracos ain’t gon’ let me down, I shake your hand, you don’t run from that
Twelfth birthday, my pops gave me a stack and that s**t smelt like crack

Tee Grizzley in “Cecil Fielder”

Just a heads-up: Cecil Fielder was a legendary baseball player for the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees, and he’s the father of Prince Fielder, one of my all-time favorite players. That said, “Cecil Fielder” has nothing to do with him. In the track, which is driven by Harry Fraud’s smooth and stylish beat, Boldy James and Tee Grizzley discuss cutting out bad influences and their intriguing histories with drugs. Boldy maintains his usual cold demeanor, while Grizzley, despite the beat not being his usual style, still brings his compelling energy to the track. I think the collaboration works.

Tee Grizzley said he got a stack from his father for his twelfth birthday and that s**t smelled like crack. That’s some wild s**t.
