Swifties stay winning!

Taylor Swift’s 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released on April 19th to critical acclaim, and the charts reflect its success. The album initially spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart before being overtaken to number 4 by Eminem’s The Death Of Slim Shady and Stray Kids’ Ate. However, it has now reclaimed the top spot thanks to 71,000 units sold last week.

Before Swift’s achievement, Whitney Houston’s Whitney held the female artist record for the most consecutive weeks at number 1 with 11 weeks. While Swift hasn’t commented on breaking this record, she’s likely feeling fortunate, especially since 13 is her lucky number.

Regarding the album’s release, Swift recently said, “The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions, and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time—one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.”
