Mati Is Eating On Some “chicken noodle soup”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is some spicy chicken noodle soup.

Mati is one of us: an African in America (I’m Nigerian-American). Born in Ethiopia but raised in South Minneapolis, Mati has made a significant impact on the music scene by blending unique rap deliveries, eclectic vibes, and thought-provoking lyrics. If you’re a fan of artists like JID or Smino, his music will likely resonate with you.

Recently, Mati released a seven-track project titled Berhane’s Son, with the opening track being “Chicken Noodle Soup.”

“chicken noodle soup” offers a dual experience. The first part of the track is driven by a smooth boom-bap beat with a scattered drum pattern, while the second part transitions into an easygoing, neo-soul hip-hop beat that’s undeniably soothing. In the first section, Mati delivers a memorable hook and a dynamic rap performance with a touch of whininess, while his raps in the second part take on a sturdier tone. Lyrically, Mati uses the metaphor of a lover warming his heart like a can of soup to delve into the quest for comfort and solace amid personal struggles and the relentless drive to prove oneself. Overall, this is the kind of track that will instantly make you a fan.
