Ratings for albums by TisaKorean, Jean Dawson, and 03 Greedo.

TisaKorean – In Silly We Trust

(C)

Did I just listen to a dude go through an exorcism?

You won’t find an artist more daring than Tisa Korean. To say he bends genres would be an understatement. In his latest project, In Silly We Trust, he bends s**t so much that some of the genres end up with torn ACLs and MCLs.

No, dead-ass: this album is bizarre. TisaKorean bounces off the walls like a madman, playing with various vocal styles and shifting topics as quickly as people shift moods. He also experiments with a wide range of instrumentals, incorporating vibes reminiscent of old-school Soulja Boy, alternative rock, and some random jungle s**t. If you’re into unfiltered wildness, you’ll definitely enjoy this album.

Favorite Tracks: “lOvE LeTtEr,” “MoNey HaPpInEsS,” “bEat uP dAt bOy.”

Jean Dawson – Glimmer of God

(B+)

Jean Dawson’s ear for music is different, bro.

Jean Dawson is likely one of those kids who grew up immersed in all kinds of books, letting his imagination run wild. This is evident in his music, which is incredibly eclectic. It’s hard to label him as just a pop artist, even though he frequently explores that genre. Similarly, while he incorporates vintage vibes, he doesn’t fit neatly into the throwback category either. After listening to his new album, Glimmer of God, you’ll understand exactly what I mean.

I want to emphasize that this album is fantastic. Jean Dawson blends ’80s-inspired music, soul-clenching R&B, and experimental pop with remarkable skill. As for his vocal performances, they are incredibly effective, striking a balance between powerful, soul-stirring, and gentle, highlighting his finesse. Lastly, he excels at creating irresistibly catchy melodies and what feels like completely organic instrumentals. All in all, this is easily one of the most impressive bodies of work I’ve encountered this year.

Favorite tracks: “Darling,” “Houston” and “Die For Me,” “You’re Bleeding Everywhere.”

03 Greedo – Hella Greedy

(C+)

03 Greedo got rid of his glasses and now thinks he’s Stefan.

03 Greedo’s work ethic is reason enough to be a fan. I feel like he averages four mixtape releases a year. Additionally, his fearless, unapologetic approach to music is truly inspiring, especially in a world where many artists often compromise their artistry for commercial gain. Just this past weekend, Greedo released one of his biggest projects of the year: Hella Greedy.

I really enjoyed this project. Throughout Hella Greedy, 03 Greedo talks his s**t early, often, and fearlessly, addressing his quick temper, rise to the top, competitive nature, and ties to the streets. While I do wish the audio quality was a bit crisper, listeners will appreciate the diverse range of instrumentals sprinkled throughout, from menacing to club-ready to smooth vibes. Greedo shows a willingness to sing when needed, but he primarily leans into his sly and crafty rapping style. I also found it very entertaining when he talked about sliding for some reason…

Favorite Tracks: “Kill Me,” “Sumn Pretty,” and “R.I.C.O.”
