As a major Kid Cudi fan, I almost cried real tears listening to this track.
Kid Cudi and Chip Tha Ripper reconnect on “Flight,” and it feels like stepping straight back into a familiar sonic universe. Despite having a slight beef with Cudi because of something no one needs to know, I’ll always respect what he’s done for shaping a whole generation of alternative hip-hop listeners, myself included.
The track leans heavily into that Man on the Moon-style sound, with spacey, intergalactic production built on heavenly synths, soft pads, and a slow-burning trap bounce. Cudi delivers emotionally detached yet spellbinding vocals, reflecting on mental battles and resilience in his signature style.
Chip Tha Ripper complements him perfectly, offering a grounded but melodic verse that reinforces their natural chemistry. It’s one of those collaborations where nothing feels forced, just two artists drifting in the same emotional orbit.
