French Montana and Max B keep the wave alive with another ambitious collaboration.
Ever since Max B came home, French Montana and the Silver Surfer himself have been moving like they are trying to make up for lost time. Just a few months ago, they released Coke Wave 3.5: Narcos, which surprisingly produced a legitimate standout record in “Ever Since U Left Me (I Went Deaf).” Now, the duo is back again with Wave Gods 2: Cosmos Brothers (These titles, bro), a massive 25-track project that fully embraces their signature chemistry and chaotic mixtape energy.
If you have heard these two make music before, the formula has not changed much. French Montana handles the more straightforward rap moments while occasionally breaking into singing that feels way more confident than it probably should be. Meanwhile, Max B continues to float between rough-edged melodies and unpolished rap deliveries that somehow still carry personality and charm.
Lyrically, the project revolves around luxury lifestyles, street survival, making money, and remaining ready for whatever problems appear. The guest list stays relatively compact but interesting, featuring appearances from Ye, Rick Ross, Ty Dolla $ign, Chase Belly, and the late Chinx.
Production-wise, the album bounces all over the map in the best mixtape way possible. There are East Coast, West Coast, and Southern influences mixed with soulful samples, mafioso-inspired moments, genre-blending experimentation, and even a cot damn Lloyd’s “You” flipping.
Overall, the project feels intentionally raw and loosely assembled, which honestly works in its favor. French Montana sounds especially sharp here, while Max B’s unpredictable style remains both fascinating and potentially overwhelming depending on the listener.
