Tory Lanez Revisits 2022 with “The Chase” & “Take It Off”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Tory Lanez must have been churning out music at an impressive rate in 2022.

Tory Lanez is undoubtedly one of my favorite artists in the game right now, so I’m always eager to dive into any new music he drops. That said, I’ve already reviewed over 25 new tracks from Tory this year alone. While most of them are solid, I haven’t had the time to fully savor them the way I’d like. On Thursday, Tory returned with two new Lost Tapes tracks from 2022: “The Chase” and “Take It Off.”

In The Chase” finds Tory Lanez sounding fed up and fiery. Throughout the track, he vents his frustrations about the disloyal people who were once in his circle and how he’s anticipating karma to catch up with them now that they’ve abandoned him during his toughest moments. Tory delivers his bars with raw intensity, ensuring every bit of his anger resonates. His fiery approach is amplified by the emotional backdrop of the production, making his words hit even harder. If I had to guess, this track feels like a cut that didn’t quite make it onto Sorry 4 What.

Take It Off” takes a gentler approach compared to “The Chase.” In this track, Tory Lanez seamlessly blends his seductive crooning with sly rapping to express his infatuation with a woman who has impeccable taste in music and a captivating allure. The song exudes romantic vibes and creates an intimate atmosphere that might just have you pulling your partner closer.

Check out “The Chase” and “Take It Off” below.
