Aminé embraces forgiveness and growth on “Things Don’t Change,” pairing playful production with melodic raps.
We just received quite the treat. Aminé is back with “Things Don’t Change,” a track from Wildwood Sessions, an album of original music inspired by LAIKA’s film Wildwood. He’s always been one of my favorite artists because of his free-spirited, fun approach to rapping. Can we please get back to letting hip-hop have some fun?
“Things Don’t Change” features playful, colorful production with a helluva bounce. Over it, Aminé talks about letting go of grudges, making room for forgiveness, and prioritizing growth even when it doesn’t come easily. The words are motivational in a very unserious way.
What’s dope is his gentle, melodic rap delivery. It adds to the colorful atmosphere instead of competing with it, keeping the message easy to take in. This feels so Aminé, if you know his style: fun, thoughtful, and full of personality.
