No wonder Memphis Bleek was my second favorite rapper on Roc-A-Fella.
In my humble opinion, The Art Of Dialogue delivers some of the most compelling interviews on the internet. Their conversations often feature hip-hop veterans reflecting on iconic moments from the past, offering fascinating insights. One recent interview that caught my attention was with Beanie Sigel, who dropped a surprising revelation.
During his chat with TAD, Beanie Sigel claimed that Jay-Z served as Memphis Bleek’s ghostwriter. He even suggested that this gave Bleek an edge when they appeared on tracks together.
For me, Roc-A-Fella was the greatest lyrical collective of all time, largely due to their competitive spirit. Every track felt like a lyrical showdown, with each artist striving to outshine the others. Beyond that, their unique styles complemented one another: Jay-Z as the smooth and polished wordsmith, Beanie as the gritty storyteller, and Bleek as the high-energy wild card. If Beanie’s claims are true, Jay-Z’s ghostwriting talent is undeniable—especially since Memphis Bleek’s style sounds nothing like Jay’s. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jay penned their “Coming of Age” tracks, as they carry a distinctively Jay-Z-esque finesse.
Beanie Sigel confirms Jay-Z ghostwrote for Memphis Bleek and says Jay-Z always cheated for Memphis Bleek when all 3 of them were on a song together.
