Kanye West Gets Deep in New Track “Damn”

Are you capable of feeling sorry for Kanye West?

Last night, shortly after Tyrese Haliburton dished out his ninth no-look pass where he actually looked, Kanye West quietly dropped three new tracks from his upcoming BULLY album—and all three are worth a spin. What might surprise fans most is Ye’s willingness to fully embrace his emotional side. Two of the three songs feature him not just rapping, but singing—openly, vulnerably, and unapologetically.

One of the most emotionally resonant of the bunch is “Damn.” This track wouldn’t feel out of place on Donda—in fact, it echoes the introspective mood of songs like “Moon” and “No Child Left Behind.” The production is hauntingly minimal, leaving room for Kanye to reflect on a broken relationship and the emotional wreckage left behind. The song only features a chorus, which Ye sings three times. Overall, “Damn” might not bang in the trap, but if you’re looking for vulnerability in hip-hop, it will strike a powerful chord.

Ye made this track in his bathtub, didn’t he? S**t sounds so f**king depressing.
