Steve Lacy’s upcoming album ‘Oh Yeah?‘ is self-produced, genre-bending, and his most personal work yet — shaped by heartbreak, confidence, and a new focus on lyrics.

Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Steve Lacy has officially announced his upcoming album, Oh Yeah?, which he’s calling his “most confident” and “most personal” work to date. The project, which Lacy has been crafting with care, is entirely self-produced and draws from a rich palette of influences, including trip-hop, electronic music, and classic rock ballads.

In a recent conversation with Rolling Stone, Lacy revealed that Oh Yeah? marks the first time he has deeply focused on lyricism. “For a while, words were always just kind of secondary,” he explained. “But now I’m like, ‘OK, I want to say shit how I would say shit.’” This shift signals a new chapter in Lacy’s artistry — one where his writing matches the ambition and sophistication of his production.

Interestingly, the album’s early tracks leaned toward a melancholic tone, shaped by a breakup Lacy experienced last fall. His label initially suggested he make happier songs, but the emotional depth of his life at the time seeped into the music. That tension between vulnerability and confidence could make Oh Yeah? one of the most compelling projects of his career.

Though no official release date has been revealed yet, anticipation is high. With Lacy’s track record of innovative sounds and genre-blurring production, fans can expect Oh Yeah? to be a sonically adventurous, emotionally rich journey — one that solidifies his status as one of today’s most boundary-pushing artists.
