Jay Electronica continues his tradition of bold, thought-provoking hip-hop with his latest project, “A Written Testimony: Leaflets.”
Jay Electronica has always been one of hip-hop’s most daring voices, and his new project A Written Testimony: Leaflets reinforces that reputation. Known for tackling religion and social justice with fearless honesty, he pairs his sharp lyricism with a gritty, commanding delivery that demands attention.
The album follows his 2020 release A Written Testimony, which famously featured multiple appearances from Jay-Z alongside Travis Scott and The-Dream. It also arrives with Act II: The Patents of Nobility (The Turn), offering fans both fresh and older music with the same intellectual punch.
A Written Testimony: Leaflets opens with a Diddy intro (Which is already interesting) and includes appearances from Quentin Miller and DRAM. Conductor Williams some of the production, crafting a soundscape that blends classic hip-hop textures with experimental elements. Track titles like “Who Killed Michael Jackson?,” “Japan Airline 1628,” and “Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Is Still Physically Alive” hint at the album’s provocative themes and spiritual curiosity.
Much of the project weaves together excerpts, layered sounds, and moments of abstraction, making it less about straightforward rap verses and more about an immersive, contemplative experience. It’s another bold chapter in Jay Electronica’s boundary-pushing career.
