The West Coast legend will guide the VMAs during their first return to Los Angeles since 2017.
The MTV Video Music Awards are heading back to the West Coast, so it makes perfect sense that Uncle Snoop is the host of it.
Snoop Dogg has officially been announced as the host of the 2026 MTV VMAs. The ceremony will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. If you have CBS, MTV, or Paramount+, you should be able to watch it.
The decision makes perfect sense. Snoop is just like Shaq: He’s everywhere. Whether he is rapping, covering the Olympics, cooking with Martha Stewart, or appearing in one of the approximately 500 commercials he does every year, you always see his face.
Snoop definitely has a history with the MTV Awards. He made his main-stage debut at the ceremony in 1994 and has since earned 13 nominations and three Moon Person trophies. His memorable appearances include performing with Dr. Dre and Eminem in 1999, participating in a Notorious B.I.G. tribute in 2005, and delivering a metaverse-inspired performance with Eminem in 2022.
Snoop will also serve as an executive producer for the ceremony. Madonna leads this year’s field with 11 nominations, while Taylor Swift follows with nine. Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award.
Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon, but placing Snoop at the center of everything feels like an excellent start.
