Lowkey, Myles Lloyd went in on this track.
Myles Lloyd has been representing Montreal’s R&B scene with quiet consistency and major impact. What makes him stand out is his ability to blend old-school R&B sensibilities with a modern sound that feels tailor-made for today’s listeners.
This past Friday, Myles released a thirteen-track project titled I’m Still Thinking. While the entire album carries a cohesive, emotional palette, one track in particular stands out: “Cold,” the second song on the project.
“Cold” thrives on a frosty, atmospheric instrumental layered with subtle trap elements and a smooth, steady tempo. It’s the kind of production that feels perfect for a quiet winter afternoon — crisp, calm, and wrapped in a certain chilliness that complements the story being told.
Over that icy backdrop, Myles delivers a hypnotic, heartfelt performance. Lyrically, he dives into the emotional tug-of-war that comes with dealing with someone whose heart seems to be colder than Antarctica. Yet, even with that sting, Myles approaches the subject with a refreshing level of confidence. He makes it clear that if this person wants to be single and explore their options, he’s more than willing to give them that freedom.
While the song carries feel-good melodic moments, it’s also, at its core, a brilliantly executed diss record wrapped in smooth R&B polish.
